How to Become a Member of Art-Match

Some restrictions on membership:

The purpose of Art-Match is to assist the individual artist. To be a member you must be the creator of the artwork you are selling or the guardian or heir of the artist. Artwork is intellectual property and you must own it to display it on Art-Match.

We will not list websites of artists who primarily apply artwork to manufactured products, such as mugs, tee shirts, and magnets. We think these items are highly appropriate as part of the product mix of an artist but they should not be the primary product. A website must offer original artwork for sale by the artist and this is what should be shown on Art-Match .

Photography artists should be fine art photographers. Portrait photography (either people or pets) should not be the primary product and we prefer that portraits not be used as image links on Art-Match.

Jewelry must be original creations, and not assembled from manufactured parts.

Nudity has always been a subject for artists, and we do not reject sites that contain nudity unless in our opinion they exist mainly for viewing nudity. We generally do not allow nude images on Art-Match unless they are abstract. This means that an artist should only use images on Art-Match that are non-nudes if the artist's website contains nudity. Please warn viewers that your site contains nudity.

We do not get involved in the actual selling of members' artwork. Our function is to provide the public with the best possible tool for finding art for themselves, their homes, and their businesses and to provide artists with an inexpensive means of marketing their work.

Membership:

We encourage artists to take advantage of the our standard, free membership in order to make Art-Match the best possible search tool for the public to find artwork of all kinds. It permits members to include their contact information in our searchable data base. This includes name of business, address, telephone number, and email address. It also includes a set of key words that indicate the kind of art you specialize in. It permits members to upload four images of artwork and to link them to their personal websites.

Enter your contact information and a link to your website into our searchable data base and use the gallery tool to upload picture links to your work. The gallery tool creates thumbnail images from your high resolution images in the correct format for viewing on our pages. You will be allowed to change your images at any time. You may have up to four images at any one time.

Members can upload images of their work, which will be displayed in the eight picture frames on the sides of each main page. An equitable procedure has been developed that displays pictures based on how many times they have been previously displayed and how long they have been loaded. Everytime the public opens Art-Match the pictures change.

Clicking one of the side pictures brings up the details page for the artist. On the details page, all of the member artist's pictures are shown, along with contact information. Each picture will be a thumbnail link to the member's website, where this image should appear in high resolution along with the member's ordering procedures. Pictures can be changed as often as a member wishes and instructions are provided.

Please note that once you have completed your registration, your account will be in a disabled state. This is neccessary to filter out inappropriate content from non-artists. If you are an artist we will enable your account after we review it. If an account is incomplete after 30 days, we reserve the right to delete it. We have found that accounts without artwork images get virtually no notice by the public and are a waste of storage space

If you do not have a website you can still display your art without linking to a website. Just make sure you provide contact information for potential customers. If at some time in the future you would like to have a website in order to improve the marketing of your art, check out www.art-host.com. We have an economical website design that you create yourself with our tools. Our website design functions well with Art-Match . We can also discuss hosting your website if you wish.

One-time set-up assistance:

As an additional service option to our members, we will provide assistance in setting up your account for a cost of $20 US. We encourage you to try to set up your account first. We have provided instructions and tools to help you. We will respond to a reasonable number of email questions without charge. If you still find that it is too difficult, return to this page and purchase help. We will take care of uploading images from your existing website. This service is intended as a convienience for members who would like a little extra help with the image uploading process. After registering with Art-Match, just send us an email to indicate what kind of problems you are having with setting up your account. Once an account is set up, the member is expected to maintain it with the tools we have provided. We will respond to a reasonable number of email questions without charge. If you need help, payments are made though PayPal. If you are not aware of it, use of PayPal allows you to pay without divulging your credit card information to anyone but PayPal. We do not receive any financial information. Payment by check can also be accepted.
